Pete Doherty – Visiting Fellow

Pete Doherty is an Associate Producer at the BBC.  He is also a studio Director and OB Director for BBC South.  Pete is also a BBC trained Floor Manager and Video Journalist.  He runs his own company Doherty Associates’ Many of our Television Degree students have had work experience with Pete on Children in Need and through Doherty Associates.  For the past two years Pete has been involved as an interviewer on Solentpost Day.   He  gives up his time for free to do this and to come in and look at students work and give feedback.  For the past two years he has provided feedback to 3rd year Television Production students on their Final Major Project and helping them through his many industry contacts to get professional voice over artists and actors. He is a very strong supporter of the Television Degrees and Southampton Solent University.

 

Pete Doherty has worked on a variety of Broadcast and Corporate programs. Over the years he has won several awards.

1995 “Highly Commended” for Arts Journalist of the Year in the BT Southern Press Awards.

2003  Royal Television Society Award for Best Non-Broadcast Production – The Streetwise Guide to Higher Education.

2005   Royal Television Society Award for Best Non-Broadcast production  – Backfire.

2011   Christian Broadcasting Council, Best Newcomer for Andy Serkis , Playing Screwtape, Sky Arts.

2012    Royal Television Society Award for Best Location Director – BBC South Today.

2016    New York Radio Awards for Best Documentary – Somebody Did it Better, the lost songs of the James Bond films.
